Musée des Beaux-Arts in Draguignan

Gateway to the Verdon

After five years of renovation work, this renowned institution in the Dracénie region is back in the public eye following the inauguration of the reopening in November 2023.

It took five years of renovation work before the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Draguignan, a Musée de France accredited museum, was able to reopen its doors to the public.

Its collections, enriched by recent major purchases and deposits from national museums such as the Château de Versailles and the Musée d’Orsay among others, include works by Watteau, David Teniers and Simon Vouet. One of the masterpieces of the Draconian collections is undoubtedly the ceremonial half-armor of François de Montmorency, dating from the mid-sixteenth century.

Faced with a remarkable collection of pieces, Moustiers earthenware unveils its mysteries, sharing its history and heritage with every visitor. Salernes

Terra Rossa Museum

The regional capital of ceramics for centuries, the town is still home to factories producing ceramic tiles, wall reliefs and other architectural pieces. Potters and designers, perpetuating a centuries-old activity, bear witness to a tradition that dates back almost four centuries.

Covering an area of 3,800 square metres, this architectural ensemble is the work of world-renowned designer Jean-Michel WILMOTTE, known for his emblematic museum creations in Europe and beyond. The magnificent gardens were designed by Jean MUS.

Taking as his starting point a former factory dating from the 19th century that remained in operation until the end of the 20th century, the architect succeeded in creating a harmonious whole, combining traditional materials and modern technologies, contemporary aesthetics and living testimonies to an industrial past. Explore this unique fusion of past and present, shaped by design visionaries.
